The Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Thiruvananthapuram, successfully conducted a three-day computer training programme for visually impaired teachers of the Department of Collegiate Education under the OSP category programmes. The initiative was organized with the objective of enhancing digital competencies and empowering educators with the necessary technological skills to effectively perform academic and administrative responsibilities.

The training programme was carefully designed to address the specific learning needs of visually impaired faculty members. The sessions focused on strengthening essential keyboard skills to improve speed, accuracy, and independent computer usage. Hands-on practice sessions were conducted to ensure participants gained confidence in navigating digital platforms using assistive technologies.

A significant component of the programme was the introduction to Artificial Intelligence tools and their practical applications in teaching, research, and academic documentation. Participants were oriented to accessible AI-enabled platforms that can support content creation, information retrieval, academic communication, and productivity enhancement.

Special emphasis was also given to Malayalam typing, enabling participants to efficiently prepare academic materials, official communications, and documentation in the regional language. Structured practice sessions ensured familiarity with typing tools and accessible software designed to support visually impaired users.

The programme provided an inclusive learning environment with personalized guidance, interactive demonstrations, and practical exercises. The active participation and enthusiasm of the teachers reflected the relevance and impact of the training.

This initiative reaffirms IMG’s commitment to inclusive capacity-building and its continuous efforts to promote accessibility, digital empowerment, and professional development among educators across the State.
