The Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Thiruvananthapuram, conducted a two-day Malayalam Computing Training Programme for the officials of the Kerala State Planning Board on 29th and 30th December 2025 at IMG. The programme was organised with the objective of strengthening the participants’ practical skills in Malayalam Unicode computing and official document preparation in Malayalam.
The programme commenced on 29th December 2025 with an inaugural session held at 10:00 AM, in which Smt. Rajalekshmi V, Joint Director, Evaluation Division, State Planning Board delivered the welcome address. The training was formally inaugurated by Dr. Sunitha A S, Chief, State Planning Board, and the keynote address was delivered by Shri. Gopinath R, Senior Administrative Officer, State Planning Board, highlighting the importance of Malayalam computing proficiency in enhancing efficiency and uniformity in official communication.
The training sessions focused on Malayalam Unicode basics, keyboard setup and typing practice, and preparing and formatting official Malayalam documents in MS Word. The sessions were handled by Shri. Gireesh Chandran TS and Shri. Sachin Das S, Programmer-cum-Trainers, IMG, with hands-on exercises to ensure practical competence. The programme concluded with an evaluation and valedictory session, and participants noted the usefulness of the training for their routine official work promoting effective and standardised malayalam documentation practices in government offices.
