The library is a repository of wisdom that enables the reader. A well-kept library denotes the signature of the institution. IMG is rich in books that aid both intellect and skills. They are varied and broad, helpful for knowledge upgradation as well as for research. Giving a touch of ease in use, IMG library, today uses the open-source software (Koha) for the library operations.

The current collection crosses 24,000 titles and periodicals. The library has both a reference section and a lending section so that all people could reap its benefits. IMG library is an emerging centre for reference needs in the capital city.

A substantial portion of the collection consists of books on management, public administration, development administration, effective governance, rural development, Panchayati Raj, and similar genre.  There is also a handsome collection of books on Computer Science, Gender Parity, Philosophy, Sociology, and other Social Sciences.  In addition to this, there are important titles under Constitution and Law, Education, History, Culture, Biography, Political Science, Communication, Psychology, Journalism, and Fiction.  

Copies of Training Need Analysis (TNA) and Course modules are kept in the library. More than 5,000 Malayalam Books on a variety of subjects too are available.

The Institute subscribes to all the leading dailies published in the state, and also of those reputed mags such as  Economic & Political Weekly, Indian association of Social Science Institutions (Quarterly), Indian Journal on Public Administration (Quarterly), Indian Journal on Training and Development (Quarterly), The Administrator, Seminar, Finance India, Kerala Economy, Human Development Report, World Development Report, Economic Review (Planning Board), publications of Kerala Sahithya Academy, Vignana Kairali, Granthalokam are subscribed and displayed for reading and reference purposes.

Leading periodicals find a place in the IMG library.  Outlook,  The Week   Frontline, Competition Affairs, India Today are the English Periodicals regularly subscribed to.   Kala Kaumudi, Samakalika Malayalam,  Mathrubhoomi, Vanitha, Grihalakshmi, Manorama Aarogyam, Dhanam, Aranyam adorn the Malayalam periodical section. This apart, the Institute gets complimentary copy of very many periodicals published by different agencies of both public and private.  All bound volumes of Economic and Political Weekly since 2014 are preserved in the library.

IMG also takes care of reports on Best Practices of  governmental agencies of different states. Well-bound volumes of these works are kept for research and reference. Importantly, the IMG Library is linked to DELNET (Developing Library Network), a major resource-sharing library Network in India connecting more than 8100 institutions in 33 states and some overseas countries besides scores of Universities, Colleges, R&D organisations, medical hospitals, and research centres.   The Reference Section kept UpToDate and has more than 1000 books.  Faculty members, researchers, academics, students preparing for Civil Service Examinations, and the participants in various training programmes make good use of the facilities here.
