The importance of improving governance and service delivery is today a matter of priority. Central Government and almost all State Governments have been introducing a number of innovative programmes aimed at better governance. Of course, technology has been a major game changer and Government Departments and agencies have been quite creative in finding solutions for the problems of delay and opacity. Aided by the right to Information Act and the Right to Service Act, several states have been able to leverage the possibilities of IT for effective service delivery. However, technology is not the only determinant of good governance initiatives. Legislative, process-reengineering, behavioural changes are all part of the ecosystem of continuing governance initiatives.

The Centre for Good Governance, an initiative of the Institute of Management in Government plans to bring together some of the major good governance projects from across the States. Though these initiatives are customized to suit the socio-cultural context of the every state, there always would be elements that could be replicated and improved.  The Seminar will be an ideal forum to share and exchange ideas and experiences.

The Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS) Hyderabad is our Knowledge partner. They would make a representative presentation of these initiatives. 

Besides, several States would be making presentations of their flagship programmes. Altogether the Seminar is expected to showcase 30 chosen good governance projects and practices from the States, including the host state of Kerala.
