   Institute of Management in Government (IMG) Thiruvananthapuram in collaboration with University of Reading (UOR) The United Kingdom Conducts work placement to the students of M.sc in International Planning and Sustainable Urban Management School of Real Estate & Planning, University of reading from 2014 on wards. Till date 2 batches of students came to Kerala for the placement programme.  They received hands on experience on urban planning from the attachment programmes with  Urban affairs Department,  Institute of Land and Disaster Management (ILDM), Kudumbasree Mission, Institute of Climate Change etc. The aim of the work placement is to provide the students an opportunity  to learn from actual practice.  This should enable the students to apply to a work situation, under supervision, the knowledge and skill they have acquired in the class room.  Therefore, the students are placed with an employer, based on their option and as a requirement of their course.  The head of the agency/institution/office with whom the students are placed shall provide opportunities to the students, to have hands on experience in the work situation in the respective organization by extending a suitable assignment, which shall be useful to the organization in future as well as to the student to learn the subject matter by direct experience.  The students shall prepare an account of the work done by them every day and get it authenticated form the designated officer/superior officer responsible for the placement in the organization.  For the purpose an officer in each of the identified organization may be entrusted with the charge of overseeing the students activities in the organisation for the period of their work placement.  The students shall prepare suitable final reports also in the form of project reports/paper for record of their placement in the organization and one copy of the report will be provided to the supervising officer in the organization
